Virtua Racing
Virtua Racing is an arcade racing game from 1992, developed by Sega-AM2. It was one of the first racing games that put exclusively on polygon graphics to render.
The player has the choice between three different vehicles and three lines, divided by level of difficulty. The game can either be played alone or in pairs.
1993 appeared the successor Virtua Formula. The number of possible players was increased from two to eight.
Implementation for video game consoles
The first implementation of a video game console made in 1994 for the Sega Mega Drive. Since the hardware of the Mega Drive had not been alone sufficient for the polygon of graphics, the module offers an additional coprocessor, the SVP. A few months later with the launch of the 32X Virtua Racing Deluxe under the name of an enhanced version with improved graphics, two additional tracks and two additional vehicles.
Due to the SVP chips in the module and the high cost of production so the game when released for 249, - DM (MSRP was offered). VR This was the most expensive module, and even exceeded the then price of the Mega Drive, the reduced prices on some dealer was offered. The EIA was soon reduced to 199 after its release, - DM.
In 1996 the game for the Sega Saturn has been ported. Many players, however, criticized the lack of control.
For the PlayStation 2 game in the Sega Classics Collection was re-published.
